2011 Great East Japan (Tohoku) Earthquake and Tsunami Symposium at the University of Washington (UW)

Reid Middleton Structural Engineer, David Swanson, and Design Engineer, Erik Bishop, organized and participated in the SEAW-sponsored 2011 Great East Japan (Tohoku) Earthquake and Tsunami Symposium at the University of Washington’s Kane Hall on June 15th. The 4-hour Symposium was attended by over 300 architects, engineers, scientists, and public officials and provided detailed accounts of the earthquake and tsunami impacts to the Sendai region and lessons learned for the Pacific Northwest and Alaska. Local television and news media attended the event and highlighted the team’s efforts and their findings.
