Reid Middleton New Hires & Promotion

Everett, Wash. – Reid Middleton, Inc., an Everett-based engineering, planning and surveying firm, has hired Colin English as Senior Aviation Planner, Brian Matsumoto as Project Engineer, Courtney Langer as Designer 1, and Thomas Schoonover as Survey Party Chief, in their Everett, Wash., office. The company has also promoted Don Barclay and Karla Kendall to Senior Engineer and Melanie Haagsma to Design Engineer in their Everett office.

They have also promoted Kevin Galvez, EIT, from intern to Designer 1, in their Honolulu, Hawaii, office.

Colin English has over 15 years of experience in aviation project management, airport management, airport operations, and aviation planning. Colin joins Reid Middleton as a Senior Aviation Planner. His background includes positions at Paine Field in Everett, Wash.; Aspen, Colo.; Kearney, Neb; and Grant County, Oregon. Colin recently completed his Masters in Public Administration with an emphasis in aviation. He specializes in Safety Management System Planning, a new FAA requirement.

Brian Matsumoto, PE, SE, has joined the Structural Engineering group as a Project Engineer. Brian brings over 14 years of design experience in both the public and private sectors. Most recently, Brian was a Structural Team Leader with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Honolulu. Before that, Brian had worked for Coughlin Porter Lundeen in Seattle for over 10 years as a design engineer and project manager for various commercial office, retail, mixed-use, and K-12 projects. Brian’s current work includes a blast hardening project and seismic evaluations and retrofits of multiple Navy facilities.

Courtney Langer, EIT, received her Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from University of Portland. Courtney joins our Civil Projects group as Designer 1. Prior to coming to Reid Middleton, she worked on real world design projects, including an Indian Health Services project, designing a water transmission main connecting two rural water systems. Courtney is currently providing design support on the Washington State Patrol North Bend Fire Training Academy Fire Training Tower and multiple Navy projects.

Thomas Schoonover has joined the Survey Team as Party Chief. Thomas has an Associate’s Degree in Survey Technology from Bellingham Technical College and has 15 years of survey experience, primarily in Skagit and Whatcom Counties. Tom is currently working on projects for The Boeing Company in Everett.

Don Barclay, PE, has been promoted to Senior Engineer. Don has 28 years of engineering experience, 25 at Reid Middleton. Don is currently project manager for projects at the Southwest Washington Regional Airport in Kelso and Olympia Regional Airport.

Karla Kendall, PE, has been promoted to Senior Engineer. Karla has 21 years of engineering experience, 15 with Reid Middleton. She was project manager for the recently completed runway project at Paine Field in Everett.

Melanie Haagsma, PE, has been promoted to Design Engineer. Melanie designs and assists in implementing a variety of Airport and Civil Projects group projects, including the Olympia Taxiway C & W Rehabilitation and Mukilteo School District’s Lake Stickney Elementary School.

Kevin Galvez, EIT, has been working for Reid Middleton in their Hawaii office as a part-time intern while working on his master’s degree in civil engineering. Kevin has now completed his post graduate education and moved to full time as Designer I.
