Reid Middleton Chairman of the Board and Principal, David Swanson, travelled to New Zealand to assist with earthquake evaluations after the devastating earthquake. Ten days after the earthquake, Dave joined engineers from the Architectural Institute of Japan (AIJ) and the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute (EERI) to assist the City of Christchurch in performing safety evaluations of buildings and infrastructure. Dave was in New Zealand for 10 days as a volunteer to assist the City of Christchurch in performing building safety evaluations and to perform post-earthquake reconnaissance. The 2011 Canterbury Earthquake is analogous to a shallow earthquake on our region’s Seattle Fault.
