Making things personal.
And giving you our best.
Do good work.
And do it with great people.
Focused & fervent about the work.
We are civil & structural engineers, surveyors, & planners.
People Engineering for People.
People count on us to look out for their safety and quality of life.
We know what we do is important, and we take that responsibility seriously. The great thing about us is that we love what we do, and it shows.
Each market Reid Middleton serves is as unique as our reasons for working with them. What can be said is:
OUR PEOPLE ARE PASSIONATE ABOUT ALL OF THEM.
Serving airport clients for more than 40 years, our team of engineers, planners, and surveyors understands the complexity involved in planning, project management, permitting, design, and construction of airfields and aviation structures.
From runways, taxiways, aprons, and NAVAIDS to hangars, terminals, retail, and infrastructure systems …we support the aviation market in achieving successful airport operations.
Civic & Municipal
Citizens depend on functioning roadways, reliable public structures, and a cohesive infrastructure that works together to enable our busy and productive lives. Because we live, work and play in the same cities and towns as our clients, we are passionate about roadway, utility infrastructure, and civic government design.
People like to do business and work in safe, attractive settings, and Reid Middleton helps commercial clients achieve consumer satisfaction. We listen to our clients to gain an understanding of the needs of their future tenants and customers, then we permit and design projects from master plans to infrastructure and new commercial complexes.
A school campus is more than the sum of its parts; it’s the offices, classrooms, parking lots, and even sports fields that add up to create a wholesome learning environment. Our designers are dedicated to keeping fields clear of stormwater, planning efficient parking lots, and designing new schools and safe structures at K-12 schools, community colleges and universities.
From our earliest projects, where survey crews recorded boundary surveys and treaty legal descriptions for federal agencies to more recent structural design at Denali National Park, Reid Middleton has consistently served federal government clients like the United States Coast Guard, Veterans Affairs, Forest Service, and National Park Service.
Critical facilities such as clinics, hospitals, and healthcare campuses fill a vital role in communities. We are equally comfortable completing a seismic retrofit for a healthcare facility, expanding a parking garage, or designing a new hospital. We are sensitive to operational demands during construction and phase work in a way that minimizes disruption to daily operations of healthcare service delivery.
Our industrial market sector team serves clients small to large in the aerospace, food processing, forest products, mining, petrochemical, railroad, shipyard, and other heavy industry business sectors. Whether siting a new plant, expanding operations, or maintaining existing facilities, we work hard to understand clients’ priorities and maintain high standards of environmental stewardship and financial performance.
Whether next door or across the globe, clients look for excellence in design and consulting expertise. Leading earthquake reconnaissance missions around the world, our observations help improve the safety and performance of structures as we perform seismic design on some of the world’s greatest structures like the Burj Khalifa. With projects in several countries, we embrace cultural differences and requirements.
Unique designs with specific missions, military projects cover needs as basic as childcare and housing to as complex as missile assembly, hyperbaric chambers, and explosives handling. We have decades of military project experience through indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contracts in civil and structural engineering, planning, and surveying; both as prime and subconsultant. We are a small business under NAICS code 541330.
Outdoor spaces to relax and enjoy life are an important part of every community. Our engineers take pleasure in designing recreational destinations like picnic structures, playgrounds, band shelters, public boat launches and marinas, ADA walking trails and esplanades, beaches, and fishing piers. Waterfront recreational facilities are a particular expertise.
Retail & Hospitality
Gracious. Tasteful. Comfortable. Enticing. The list could go on, but successful retail and hospitality destinations serve a demand from a particular consumer need or desire. At Reid Middleton, we work with architects and owners to meet that expectation. From Ivar’s on the Puget Sound waterfront to the newest Cabela’s in Anchorage, we design unique and inviting buildings.
State Government’s singular purpose is to serve the public. We think of ourselves as the engineers of the people, and we are passionate about public safety. Our engineers work with state government agencies on projects across a wide range of uses, and we understand that public accountability at the state level demands that budgets are spent wisely.
Getting from here to there can vary depending on many things, but if you’re in a car, the experience can be enjoyable or not. We are experts in roadway and roundabout design, traffic and analysis, signal and illumination design, structures like bridges and retaining walls, multi-modal facilities, ADA standards, and traffic calming.
Proudly assisting tribal communities throughout Alaska and the western United States in creating meaningful projects that support, exhibit, and preserve tribal culture - we honor Native American Tribes. From community and health centers to places of educational and spiritual learning, we take the time to meet with and listen to community leaders, local residents, and the people who use and maintain the facility. It guides our design.
People have always been drawn to the waterfront – to fish, play, work, and live. Design for the waterfront must consider its sensitive and complex environment and the regulatory and permitting requirements associated with shorelines. We design marinas, boat harbors, piers, docks, breakwaters, industrial facilities, and other public or private use structures.
