Senior & Multi-Family Housing

Promoting Independence through Housing. That’s behind the mission of Cook Inlet Housing Authority (CIHA). Over the span of 12 years, it needed several senior and affordable multi-family housing structures that could empower and build the Alaska community. Reid Middleton worked with CIHA and the lead architect to provide the structural design of the following facilities.

• Caswell Court –34 one- and two-bedroom apartment units for seniors, totaling 36,200 SF
• Centennial Village & Beyond/ Eklutna Estates – 5-Star energy rated, 59 affordable and market-rate, one- and two-bedroom housing units totaling 92,000 SF
• Grass Creek North – 52 units. A 20-unit, three-story multi-family facility and 32 townhome units in one-, two-, and three-story configurations. Phase 2 included 48 additional townhomes.
• Coronado Senior Housing – 58-unit, four-story residential building over a concrete garage
• Qanchi Place – renovation of the old Duke’s Hotel into the Qanchi Place to provide affordable downtown apartments
• Creekview Plaza 49 – 49-units for reduced-income seniors, comprised of two adjacent three-story buildings
• Salamatof Heights Addition & Renovation – adding 5,400 SF “commons” building and cafeteria, library, and lounging areas to the existing 11,600 SF apartment facility
• Mountain View Village Lofts – Three-story, wood-framed, 22,000-sf facility consisting of low income housing units, a first-floor mechanical room, and retail store fronts. Provided by Cook Inlet Housing Authority, the facility consists of eleven 2-bedroom units, one 1-bedroom loft, and four retail stores.
• South Anchorage Senior Housing (SASH) – 50-unit senior housing facility with one- and two-bedroom units, totaling 49,000 SF
• Wasilla Area Senior Housing – 40, one- and two-bedroom residential units for seniors
