Old Town Parking Garage Repairs

  • Location Portland, OR
  • Client City of Portland
  • Cracking Up

With cracks running along structural columns, repairs were essential.

Keeping parking in downtown Portland possible. The City of Portland needed to repair an existing parking garage to keep visitors safe. Reid Middleton provided structural engineering for the repair of the five-story, post-tensioned concrete parking structure. The existing structure had cracking along several beam-column locations at the roof level, and grease was leaking from numerous post-tensioning anchorages. The repairs involved epoxy-injection of cracks, carbon-fiber strengthening of damaged beams and columns, and trimming and regrouting of existing post-tensioning tendon ends.
