Topographic survey of Pier 54 dock surrounding the restaurant and office buildings was completed using robotic Total Station instrument and data-collector.
Surveying Can Be a Fishy Business
The field crew was restricted from working in the restaurant spaces when they were open for business, requiring several partial days to complete the survey.
Sometimes all you want is a bowl of good clam chowder. People in the Seattle area know that Ivar’s on historic Pier 54 is a great place to satisfy your clam craving. This iconic Seattle eatery sat in the middle of a massive reconstruction project at the pier – the Seattle Seawall project that promises to transform the popular waterfront. Ivar’s embarked on its own retrofit project and needed accurate horizontal and elevation data for the planned structural and interior improvements.
The property boundary was calculated based on a monument survey, previous work on the site, and recorded maps of the area. Topographic data was merged with approved construction plan details from the Seawall project to coordinate design with the proposed improvements and utilities after the Seawall project is completed.
