Project fixes wave scour at waterfront restaurant.

Piling perfection. The waves from the tides and ferry boat operations caused wave scour at Ivar’s restaurant in Mukilteo. To prevent future scour and mitigate erosion, Reid Middleton prepared all permitting, design, and construction administration services for repair of the pile foundation. The waterfront restaurant is located over the intertidal area adjacent to the Clinton-Mukilteo ferry terminal. Reid Middleton designed repairs to mitigate the erosion including new micro-piles to support an existing sheet-pile wall, riprap to prevent future scour, and upgrades to the existing pile-supported foundations. The project included installing 90 micro-piles. Repairs to the floor structure were also performed consisting of strengthening of the floor framing, supplemental steel columns, and improved floor-to-column connections. Reid Middleton also led the full permitting process.
