Mitigation funds from SR520 expansion impacts on the iconic Washington Park Arboretum and two other City parks allowed the City to purchase the property.

Sittin’ on the dock of a bay. The City of Seattle is creating a place for residents to do just that in the Portage Bay neighborhood. To bring the park to life, the City agreed to purchase a portion of the Boat Street property from the University of Washington. Before it could deed the property over, the University needed a Lot Boundary Adjustment, and they hired Reid Middleton’s survey group to perform a topographic survey of the site and the full right-of-way of adjacent Boat Street locating pavement limits, building corners, sidewalks, pier lines and docks, ground features, trees, landscaping, and other improvements and visible utilities. The park will provide a range of passive recreational opportunities and shoreline restoration and habitat.
