New mezzanine improves administrative suite for doctors.
Making mezzanine. Reid Middleton performed the design for modifications to The Doctors Clinic Administrative Suite in Silverdale, Washington. The modifications included adding wall penetrations to the existing CMU shear walls for added windows and adding a new self-supported mechanical mezzanine. The mezzanine design consisted of wood framing with concrete footings and wood shear walls. Fifteen percent of the existing shear walls were removed, and steel drag elements were added at the wall openings to ensure load transfer around the new openings.
