The existing beacon tower was deficient and in need of replacement.

Keeping the lights on for you. The airport’s existing beacon motor was no longer functional and its support structure, built in the 1950s, had reached the end of its design life. In an effort to maximize its infrastructure, the airport sought to improve not only the beacon and tower, but to install a security fence to assist with wildlife mitigation and airport security.

Reid Middleton removed the existing rotating beacon and structure, constructed a new tower, designed the new beacon tower’s foundation, evaluated re-use/replacement of the existing beacon, and designed the new beacon. The team also designed fencing that streamlines access through the west side gate for airport tenants and users and has a new electronic double swing security gate at the west side entrance.
