3 day design, 2 day bid, 2-week construction, 24/7 project.
“Boiling” soils caused extensive damage to the runway and underground utilities, shutting down this key economic facility for the City of Seattle the day of the Nisqually earthquake. The earthquake liquefied the soil below the concrete panels, causing them to crack in multiple locations and the runway to sink in some areas. Our team evaluated damage, designed repairs, and oversaw construction for the repair of the runway. The airport reopened fully after two weeks of around-the-clock operation.
