Pine Lake Park Master Plan, Park Structures, & Restrooms
Sammamish, WA
Engineering design for improvements to a highly utilized waterfront park on Pine Lake in Sammamish, Washington was provided by Reid Middleton. Project elements included improved public access and roadway circulation, stormwater system design, and a new public swimming and fishing dock. Reid Middleton designed the new state-of-the-art dock. The dock consists of yellow cedar and grated decking, over specially designed aluminum framing on top of plastic floats. The design also includes an aluminum gangway, steel and grating approach pier, and abutment enhancements. Full engineering, construction documents, and cost estimating services were provided for the project.
Reid Middleton also provided structural engineering for the design of three timber picnic shelter structures. The largest structure is 850 square feet, with the two smaller structures being 250 square feet each. The structures’ columns were constructed from peeled logs, while exposed wood beams and wood decking were used for the roof structure to compliment that natural setting. Concrete foundations were clad in river rock to mask them and to contribute to the architectural theme.
