Walkway Landscaping

Engineering design for improvements to the 525-foot-long trestle that supports an overwater segment of the Coast Millennium Trail, a multi-use trail that runs along the shoreline of Boulevard Park connecting the Fairhaven District to Downtown Bellingham was provided by Reid Middleton. Project elements include removal and replacement of the trestle's superstructure, removal of two frame bents, removal and replacement of the existing abutments, removal and replacement of the timber cross bracing and replacement of 3 of the trestle's timber pile caps. The trestle was widened and improved to be ADA compliant to accommodate the increasing popularity of this multi-use trail. Half of the walkway surface is now grated with ADA accessible FRP grating to offset the environmental impacts from widening the width of the walkway. Full engineering, permitting documents, construction documents, and cost estimating services were provided for the project along with construction administration assistance including site observations during construction.
