New waterfront lounge offers more than a whale of a time.
Whalemaker Lounge makes a splash on Lake Union. Ivar’s wanted to modernize the look and feel of its Whalemaker Lounge along Lake Union. Reid Middleton provided structural design for the remodel to Ivar’s cocktail lounge. The modifications to the lounge had the added benefit of opening up the views from the rest of the restaurant, resulting in a great atmosphere for the entire family. The structural work for the project required modifications and repairs to the floor framing system and the addition of wood shear walls that strengthen the building. The existing bar was moved to the interior of the building to provide an expansive view of Lake Union from the restaurant. Fun Fish Fact: look into the mirror at the bar to see a reverse inscription of “So A Whale Walked Into A Bar.”
