  • Bringing Chaos to Order

A confusing stop controlled intersection transformed to a clean roundabout.

  • Eye Popping Gateway

Improved aesthetics give a country park feel to this city entrance.

All access pass: This roundabout was designed for a chaotic five-leg stop-controlled intersection that was an important commuter route for those accessing the city. The location and configuration of the intersection posed several challenges and associated risks. Critical services and private businesses lined the streets that converged, requiring design and construction plans that took access to them into account. Reid Middleton added a separate driveway upstream of the intersection to provide access to the fire station to eliminate the fifth leg, adding sidewalks to create a continuous pedestrian route to the Park & Ride, and created a city gateway feature using landscape architecture.
