The 65,000 square-foot, two-story, 196-car Bachelor's Enlisted Quarters (BEQ) Parking Garage at Naval Hospital Kitsap-Bremerton was successfully designed, constructed, and occupied within 16 months. The parking garage is constructed of concrete columns and walls with pre-stressed concrete beams and slabs. The natural slope of the site was incorporated into the layout of the garage to minimize excavation. A three-color blend of brick provides scale and connects the building with the character of the surrounding facilities. The parking garage revitalizes an existing site through the demolition of functionally-obsolete buildings and the introduction of a new support facility that increases on-base parking capacity and addresses an immediate need by improving the quality of life of active-duty personnel.
