Seismic retrofits of Building 9900, a two-story, 9,400 square-foot building constructed in 1944, supporting the Madigan Army Medical Center Headquarters' Troop Command and DENTAC (Dental Activity), were performed by Reid Middleton. The seismic retrofit consists of the addition of concentrically braced steel frames and concrete foundations around the perimeter and at select locations on the interior of the building. The retrofit also included installation of metal stud walls to provide out-of-plane strength to the existing masonry walls. Building 9900 is a historically significant structure and required that seismic and AT/FP design was compatible with Section 106 process of the National Historic Preservation Act.
