Dave’s desire to gain understanding by first-hand experience leads him to see the effect of seismic events and lend his expertise to the recovery effort. Because structural engineering is really about engineering for the lives people lead, the satisfaction he gets from it is hard to duplicate.
Dave has over 25 years’ experience on projects throughout the western United States and Pacific Rim. He is an evangelist for seismic safety and the design of high performance structures and essential facilities. His practice areas include aviation, healthcare, civic, education, commercial, military and waterfront facilities. Collaborating on efficient designs and cost-effective solutions has been the hallmark of his team’s design practice for over 25 years.
Dave has organized, led, and participated on earthquake research team trips to Japan, China, Chile, Taiwan, Haiti, and New Zealand. Dave is a member of FEMA’s Urban Search & Rescue (US&R) Washington Task Force (WA-TF-1) His deployment trips include:
