University of Washington Campus-Wide Gas Line Replacement
Seattle, WA
A consultant team was lead by Reid Middleton for design and PS&E of the UW campus natural gas system replacement project. Work included investigating the existing natural gas system downstream from the university master meter, identifying proposed pipe routing and gas meter locations, and identifying the most suitable gas line installation method for various segments of the system. Replacement and improvement of the entire natural gas distribution system in the central campus included installation of 3,000 feet of gas main through open-cut method, insertion of 5,500 feet of gas line into the existing steel gas mains, and replacement of service lines and gas meters to 30 buildings. The university campus gas system has never been shut down before and maintaining constant gas service to some laboratories was vital.
