For the design of this three-story timber retail, office, and residential building, structural engineering was performed by Reid Middleton. To maximize the amount of window area provided on the long faces of the building, interior steel braced frames were used as a lateral system in one direction. Frames remain exposed in the final design to create the architectural appearance desired.
