As part of the City of Seattle's $800M city-wide Fire Facilities & Emergency Response Levy Program that started in 2004, Reid Middleton provided structural engineering for an 8,500 square-foot, two-story fire station located in the Ravenna/Bryant neighborhood of Seattle. This station has two apparatus bays and features a unique curved roof design and is constructed of a wide variety of materials including wood, concrete, masonry and steal. The station is designed as an essential facility and was constructed on a limited urban site. Fire Station 38 received a LEED® Gold Certification for its energy efficient designs and sustainable features.
