A Design-Build Request for a proposal package for the demolition and replacement of the washrack at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island was prepared by Reid Middleton. The completed project supports P-3C operations with a 26,565 square-foot, pre-engineered maintenance hangar and washrack with utilities control area and restrooms. This fully enclosed hangar permits aircraft washing during inclement weather.
The aircraft-access evaluation consisted of reviewing multiple wingtip-clearance requirements during aircraft movement and reconfigurating the ramp parking scheme to meet the requirements. Multiple alternate ramp parking layouts were developed to provide the greatest number of aircraft parking locations.
In the Navy's Performance Evaluation, Reid Middleton received an overall Exceptional rating, as well as Exceptional marks in every possible category.
